Russia Notes 'Blatant Bias' in New UN Report on Human Rights in Ukraine

The conclusions and assessments of the recent UN report on the situation of human rights in Ukraine are biased, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s information department said in a statement Wednesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The eleventh report by the UN mission on human rights in Ukraine was published on Tuesday.

"Unfortunately, not all of the judgments by UN experts can be called objective. Questions also arise on the sources of information on which the report was compiled. We note blatant bias and groundlessness in a range of conclusions and assessments," the statement reads.

So far, according to the latest UN data, over 6.8 thousand have died during the conflict in Ukraine's east.

The ministry added that it did not agree with the UN assessment of the measures taken by the authorities in Donetsk and Lugansk to protect the rights of the civilians, "which in no way violate the Minsk agreement."

The UN report characterized the development of more centralized civilian administrative structures and procedures in Donbass as not conforming "with either international law or the national legislation of Ukraine."

"It is surprising that the authors of the report paid insufficient attention to the crimes committed by radical nationalist groups, including the Right Sector," the Russian Foreign Ministry added. "We note that the purpose of the OHCHR mission is to provide truthful, unbiased assessment, which will contribute to normalizing the situation in the country."
