North Korea has no chance of defeating the United States or its allies in South Korea, US Defense Secretary Ash Carter said Tuesday during a Q&A session with US troops.
WASHINGTON, (Sputnik) — Seoul and Pyongyang resumed broadcasting mutual propaganda along their common border in August, in an attempt to undermine the morale of troops. This prompted a fire exchange, bringing the two countries close to an all-out military conflict.
"We need to make sure that North Koreans always understand that any provocation with them will be dealt with and that they stand no chance of defeating us and our allies in South Korea," Carter said during the Worldwide Troop Talk webcast.
Speaking to US troops on Tuesday, Carter described the Korean Peninsula as a powder keg, saying it was the only place on earth where a war could erupt at the snap of their fingers.
