MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Around 30 documents are set to be signed during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to China, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said Monday.

"Around 30 different joint documents are planned to be signed in the presence of Putin and [Chinese President] Xi Jinping," Ushakov told reporters, adding that this includes decisions on opening consulates general in both countries.

Putin will visit China on September 2-3 to take part in events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Japan’s surrender in World War II and to discuss relevant issues in bilateral relations with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Amid the Western sanctions, Moscow has been stepping up its cooperation with China, including in the energy and defense sectors, with the two countries signing large energy deals and conducting joint military exercises.
