Naval Cooperation for Peace: Chinese-Russian Drills in Far East
VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – Russian and Chinese marine forces began anti-terrorist training exercises in the Russian Far East as part of joint military drills, an Eastern Military District spokesman said Tuesday.

The Sea Cooperation-2015(II) exercises kicked off in the Peter the Great Gulf close to the strategic port city of Vladivostok last Friday.

"The forces involved in the training are freeing the [Primorsky Territory] coast captured by simulated terrorists. The purpose of the landing is to set up a corridor to evacuate the population in the counter-terrorism operation zone," Capt. 1st Rank Roman Martov told RIA Novosti.

The Russian Defense Ministry described the operation as the first ever joint Russian-Chinese naval assault.

The teams conducted anti-sabotage, anti-ship and mine defense operations. The Chinese and Russian Pacific Fleet air forces carried out joint firing missions at scale models of floating mines and airborne threat training.
