Ukraine’s Minister of Economy and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius reports massive disappearance of grain and gas as Kiev continues to battle corruption.

KIEV (Sputnik) – The minister stressed that the grain and gas loss cases will be investigated and corrupted individuals will be fired.

In a separate Tweet, the minister mentioned massive ("tens of thousands of tonnes") gas leaks that have occurred due to "negligence." According to Abromavicius, the gas shortfall was covered by diluting gasoline with kerosene.

US Secretary of State John Kerry expressed support for Ukraine’s political and economic efforts to eliminate corruption on Friday.

In July, Transparency International (TI), a non-governmental organization that monitors and publicizes corporate and political corruption, released a report saying that Ukraine had not progressed in its fight against corruption.

In December 2014, TI published an annual Corruption Perceptions Index, ranking Ukraine at the bottom-five among Eastern European and Central Asian states, and lowest in Europe.
