"Biden runs as well as or better than [Hillary] Clinton against top Republicans in general election matchups in these key swing states," Quinnipiac University stated about the results of the poll.
The poll focused on Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania because it is impossible to win the US presidential race without taking at least two of the states, Quinnipiac University explained.
In Florida, Biden received 45 percent of likely voter support against Trump who received 42 percent. In Ohio, Biden leads Trump 48 to 38 percent in likely voter support, while in Pennsylvania, he enjoys 48 percent against Trump’s 40 percent.
At present, frontrunner Hillary Clinton leads the declared Democratic presidential candidates in the three states with about 35 percent of votes, according to the poll.
National polls show that Trump continues to lead the Republican presidential candidates with 32 percent popular support versus 11 percent for second running former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
On August 3, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said Biden will decide whether to run in the 2016 presidential race by summer’s end.
