WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Former US President Jimmy Carter said he will undergo first radiation treatment for recently uncovered cancer on Thursday.

Carter, 90, announced last week that a recent liver surgery revealed he had cancer that has spread to other parts of his body.

“I get my first radiation <…> this afternoon,” he told reporters at a press briefing in Atlanta, Georgia, adding that it will dramatically cut back on his humanitarian work schedule.
