The 'Cheap EU Gas for Ukraine' Myth Debunked: Kiev Pays $75Mln More in Q2
KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukrainian authorities received $732 million from the World Bank for infrastructure projects, the Ukrainian Ministry of Regional Development, Construction, and Communal Living said in a statement Wednesday.

"The Ministry in cooperation with the World Bank is implementing a number of investment projects aimed at the development of urban infrastructure and improvement of energy efficiency in the heat supply sector in Ukraine, totaling at $732 million," the statement, published on the ministry’s website, read.

In July, the crisis-hit country secured $800 million in loans from the World Bank and Japan.

Earlier in August, Head of the Independent Trade Union of Miners of Ukraine, Mykhailo Volynets, said that coal shortages in the country could result in Ukraine being left without lighting and heat for the winter.

Ukrainian coal mines are predominately located in eastern Ukraine, the area of confrontation between Kiev and the local Donbas militias.
