Parris Frazier, Robert Deatherage and Erik Foster of the Arizona Special Operations Group were arrested on July 22 and charged with conspiracy to sell cocaine, according to a criminal complaint filed in U.S. District Court. Frazier was also charged with possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to the complaint, the federal investigation into Frazier spans back to January when he met with Custom and Border Patrol agents at a traffic stop. Frazier expressed he wanted to contact a source whom the agents said provided them with Intel on illegal border activities.
Posing as this source, an FBI agent then began contacting Frazier.
The militia man told the agent that he and a small group were “trying to take care of (steal) anything that came up out of Mexico (drugs) or was going back into Mexico (bulk cash)."
Frazier allegedly offered the agent a cut of whatever was seized. The complaint also suggests Frazier was ready to spill blood if he had to.
During a March 4 meeting, Frazier allegedly told the undercover agent, "if we (his group) have to dispatch (kill) some people, we will dispatch some people." (The parenthetical explanations are in the complaint.)
In the months leading up to the arrest, the FBI and the Phoenix Police Department monitored Frazier engaging in multiple drug and cash steals organized by the undercover agent.
A federal grand jury returned an indictment against the three men on July 28 charging them with conspiracy to sell cocaine. Frazier was also indicted on his weapons charge.
All three are being held without bail. It’s unclear whether they have attorneys.
