“Army officials have announced upcoming Iraq and Afghanistan rotations slated for August and September, Pentagon spokesman Jeff Davis said in a briefing,” the News reported on Wednesday.

Some 1,250 soldiers from the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division, Fort Drum, New York, will rotate to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, the report cited Davis as saying.

Another 300 troops from the 10th Mountain Division based in Fort Drum will deploy with 1,000 soldiers from the Fort Polk, Louisiana-based 3rd Brigade Combat Team to Afghanistan to support Operation Freedom Sentinel, the paper added.

“These are routine rotations to replace personnel that are already there,” Davis said.
