Japan Heat Wave Kills 14 People Over Past Week - Emergencies Agency
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the broadcaster, 1,677 people requested medical assistance due to hot weather in several regions of the country. The number is three times lower than the one registered a week before.

In Tokyo alone, 96 people sought medical attention, in Osaka 133 people were provided with medical assistance. Most of those hospitalized from abnormal heat — the temperature in some regions of Japan reaches 99 degrees Fahrenheit — are over the age of 70.

Meteorologists have urged people to use air conditioning, to avoid the streets and drink enough water.

In total, some 30 Japanese nationals have died of heatstroke since June while almost 20,000 have been admitted to hospitals, according to Japan's Fire and Disaster Management Agency.
