A DNA test has confirmed the identity of the suicide bomber who blew themselves up in the Turkish city of Suruc as Abdurrahman Alagöz, local newspaper reported on Wednesday.

ANKARA (Sputnik) – On July 20, 32 people were killed and over 100 injured in a terrorist attack in the Turkish city of Suruc, near the Syrian border. The attack took place near a cultural center that serves as a gathering point for Turkish Kurds who are planning to travel to the Syrian city of Kobani to rebuild it after battles with the Islamic State (IS) militant group.

Preliminary reports said that the terrorist attack was carried out by IS. Earlier, Turkish media named Abdurrahman Alagöz, a 20-year-old Turkish national as possible perpetrator of the attack, after his documents were found on the unrecognized body at the crime site.

“DNA tests confirmed the assumption that Suruc suicide bomber was 20-year-old university student Abdurrahman Alagöz, a resident of Adiyaman province,” Turkish newspaper Haberturk said.

DNA samples were taken from Alagöz’s mother, who told Turkey's Radikal newspaper that her son disappeared six months ago.
