Two Policemen Killed in Turkey Near Syrian Border

Two Turkish police officers were killed in what appear to be linked attacks in a southeastern province of the country that borders Syria, Hurriet newspaper reported Wednesday, citing the province’s governor.

ANKARA (Sputnik) — The murder took place in the town of Ceylanpinar in Sanliurfa Province.

According to the governor, the two policemen were found dead in their homes on Wednesday. The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain unclear.

The attack comes two days after a bomb exploded in the Suruc District of the same province, leaving 32 dead and over 100 injured. The Islamic State jihadist group, notorious for committing numerous atrocities, was reportedly behind the attack.

Turkey tightened security in the region following the incident in Suruc.
