Europeans don’t seem to be in favor of unity on their own continent. Portuguese daily Publico asked an important question to try to find out which, if any, European nations really like the EU.

It seems that many Europeans are not very much in favor of the European Union, the Portuguese newspaper said.

Britain? Certainly not. London has always had its eyes on Washington.

Perhaps Portugal? No, we're certainly not a part of Europe. We've always been "somewhere out there," Europe's "tail" at best. However, in times of euphoria, Portugal might even be Europe's "face," the only problem is that it might be planning on having a plastic surgery, Publico sarcastically said.

Italy? But which one: northern, central or southern? And on thin or thick crust? Who knows.

Europe: A Tower of Babble?
Maybe Croatia, which emerged victorious from the last European war of the 20th Century due to watchful assistance from a certain someone from across the Atlantic? No, there are countries with much better resumes.

Germany? Sure, sure. Certainly.

Greece? No, good-bye, it was nice meeting you. They can thank their friends from the previous paragraph.

Denmark? No, too much like Sweden.

Sweden? No, too much like Denmark.

Finland? No, they're more worried about the potential loss of their all-mighty Nokia. True Finns.

The Baltic states? New Europeans or recently returned ones. Who knows, we can't tell the difference. But they have special units that visit kindergartens teaching kids how to properly hold guns.

Oh, maybe France then? But nobody understands the idea behind "exception française." Perhaps if we build a new Europe — "Vraie Europe" — with the capital in Paris, we might finally know what the French want.

But there are those who take huge risks, often sacrificing their lives, trying to get to Europe by land or sea. Unfortunately for them they have the wrong skin color, but they are the ones who truly love Europe. Perhaps we should think about it, maybe they are the only ones who truly deserve to become Europeans, Publico concluded.
