WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew will discuss the current situation in Greece with his European counterparts during his visits to Germany and France this week, the Treasury Department announced in a press release.

“Lew will travel to Frankfurt and Berlin, Germany and Paris, France to continue engagement with European counterparts on the ongoing situation in Greece,” the release said on Tuesday.

Lew will meet with European Central Bank President Mario Draghi in Frankfurt on July 15, and with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble on July 16, according to the Treasury.

“In the afternoon, Secretary Lew will travel on to Paris to meet with French Finance Minister Michel Sapin before returning to Washington, DC,” the release added.

On Monday, Eurozone leaders reached an agreement to support the Greek economy with an additional $95.7-billion loan in exchange for economic reforms in the country.

The Greek economy needs funds sooner than the scheduled arrival of the support package from the European Union. It has to pay about $3.9 billion to the European Central Bank (ECB) before July 20, while already having defaulted on the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in June.

Greece owes approximately $270 billion to its international creditors, including the IMF, the ECB and some Eurozone states.
