“Greece does not intend to abandon the euro and Europe. Greece will never leave neither the euro or Europe, because there is no way to leave,” Vernardakis told RIA Novosti.
Greece’s government will be forced to resign if a significant majority of Greeks vote in favor of accepting demands from the country’s international creditors, Christoforos Vernardakis, secretary general on government work coordination, said Friday.
“If there is a ‘yes’ with a significant majority, clearly significant, if ‘yes’ is clearly stated, the Greek people has taken a decision to implement these policies. It is obvious that [Prime Minister Alexis] Tsipras will not be able to implement them,” Vernardakis told RIA Novosti.
“Tsipras is an honest politician,” the official added. “He will not sign what he does not believe in, and he will not sign anything that goes against the mandate he has.”
