Arab League Chief to Discuss Syrian Crisis With Russian FM Lavrov in Moscow

Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Elaraby will discuss the Syrian crisis with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during his upcoming visit to Moscow, he said in an interview with Sputnik released Sunday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The secretary-general added that the Arab League has taken measures aimed at facilitating the situation in Syria since the beginning of the conflict.

“Of course I intend to discuss this issue with Mr.Lavrov,” Elaraby said.

He stressed that the Arab League had insisted on implementation of such measures as a ceasefire, prisoner release and political reforms in Syria. According to Elaraby, the Syrian government has dismissed the proposals.
