MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) – According to the INM, the pick-up truck with foreign citizens flipped over on high speed and fell into the San Marcos River.
A little girl was reportedly among the dead. Five others, three children and two adults, got injuries and were hospitalized to undergo treatment.
A total of 15 people were inside the vehicle, when the tragedy occurred. Most of them were from Guatemala and El Salvador, the INM said.
Mexico is often used by migrants as a transit point to the United States. The route is very dangerous since the migrants often fall victims due to the road accidents or are targets of numerous criminal gangs, who rob, kidnap and even kill them.
