Kuwait Airliner Diverted to UK After Emergency – Reports

The incident drew attention of news outlets as it took place a day after a suicide bomber detonated an explosive at a Shiite mosque in Kuwait City, killing at least 27 people.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A plane en route from New York to Kuwait City, which landed earlier on Saturday in London, diverted its route due to a medical emergency, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said.

“It was a routine diversion for a medical emergency,” the spokesperson said as quoted by the Independent.

Kuwait Airlines flight KU 118 touched down at London’s Heathrow, Sky News said. The state of emergency was cancelled before the landing but the plane continued the maneuver nonetheless, reports indicated.

Reportedly, six passengers had food poisoning, which became the reason for diverting the plane's route.
