The mosque was targeted during the holy Muslim month of Ramadan, which started last week.

At least 25 people were killed and about 202 injured after a suicide bomber blew himself up in a Shiite mosque in the Gulf nation of Kuwait during Friday prayers.

The attack took place at the Imam Al-Sadeq mosque in the country's capital during the holy month of Ramadan.

The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for the attack, as well as for bombings at two different Shiite mosques in Saudi Arabia in recent weeks.

Shiites constitute a 30% minority in Kuwait, which is predominantly populated by Sunni Muslims.
