MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Police rushed to a home in Samson Street shortly after 9 p.m. local time (13:00 GMT) after receiving reports about an armed man there. Heavily armed police rushed to the site and sealed off the area.
"Following a period of negotiation, an armed 26 year old man was shot by police and suffered serious injuries and is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment," West Australia Police statement said.
Five people who were held captive in the house were unharmed and have been cooperating with police investigators.
