MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Walter Scheib went on a solo hiking trip near the town of Taos on the state's northeastern tip on June 13, never to return.
Extensive search operations concluded late Sunday, when Scheib's body was recovered nearly two miles from a base on the Yerba Canyon Trail, according to local ABC affiliate KVIA.
The outlet said no further details or circumstances surrounding Scheib's death were available at the time of confirmation of the fact by the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.
Scheib, 61, served as the White House chef under former Presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton from 1994 until 2005.
