LE BOURGET (Sputnik) — Russia’s Irkut Corporation, the manufacturer of the MC-21 airliner, estimates that about 70 percent of this model of aircraft will be supplied to foreign clients, the company’s vice president Kirill Budaev said on Wednesday.
The MC-21 is a Russian twin-engine short- and mid-range airliner with a capacity for 150-212 passengers. The first planes in the new series are set to be delivered in 2017. Currently, Irkut has 175 orders for MC-21 aircraft.
"According to the business plan, 70 percent of our supplies are set to go abroad and the aircraft should be competitive [in foreign markets]," Budaev told journalists.

He noted that currently Irkut is in talks with 240 companies from all over the world regarding the possible sales of the new Russian airliner, but in total there are 370 carries that could be potentially interested in purchasing MC-21 airliners.
"This covers all continents. We are negotiating [with potential clients] in the United States," Budaev said.

Earlier this week, a representative of the Russian aircraft leasing company Ilyushin Finance Co said that a number of companies from Europe, the Middle East and Asia have shown interest in the MC-21 range.
