Analyst Warns Russia Will Respond to F-22 Deployment in Europe
KUBINKA (Moscow Region) (Sputnik) – Russia will respond adequately to an increased US military presence on its western border, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said Tuesday.

The official's remarks followed US Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James's recent statement that the United States could deploy stealthy F-22 fighters to Eastern Europe and the Baltic nations and increase the number of its rotational forces in the region amid tensions with Russia.

"We will respond adequately. But first, we will look at what will be done and react depending on what threat to Russia’s national security their actions pose," Antonov said at the Army-2015 military exhibition that kicked off Tuesday near Moscow.

Absence of 'Russian Threat' to Poland Makes NATO Weapons Needless
Media reports earlier in June suggested that the Pentagon was considering options to position land-based missiles in Europe, in a bid to suppress Russia’s nuclear potential.

The US-led NATO military bloc has been building up its forces along the borders with Russia after the start of the Ukrainian crisis last year. It has increased the number of its air patrol missions in the region and has been sending warships to the Black Sea on tours of duty.
