American Army Wants Partners to ‘Play Away Games’ - General

The United States military needs international partnerships to prevent war from being fought on American soil, the Chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey, told service members at the Naples, Italy naval air facility on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Dempsey emphasized the importance of the US-NATO alliance in creating “a web, a network of allies.”

“We really want to play an away game and we need teammates to do it.”

“The very last thing we want to do is play a home game.”

The US web of allies, he noted, is what sets the United States apart from other large powers.

NATO is currently the largest military alliance in the world, and has expanded by nearly a third over the past decade.

Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern over NATO's expansion and increased military presence in Eastern Europe and near Russia's western border.
