Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush is expected to announce his intention to seek the Republican presidential nomination on June 15 at the Miami Dade College, according to a new campaign website launched on Thursday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — “Hope you all will join me for a special day,” Bush said via Twitter, linking his tweet to his official campaign website. His English language message was also accompanied by a tweet announcing his White House bid in Spanish.

Bush, the younger brother and son of two US presidents – his father, George H.W. Bush and older brother George W. Bush, is seen as the likely frontrunner in the 2016 presidential race.

But in recent weeks, Jeb Bush has come under fire from campaign finance watchdog groups asking the US Department of Justice (DoJ) to investigate him for allegedly violating campaign finance laws ahead of his presidential announcement.

The watchdogs argue that if Bush has been raising money for his presidential campaign then he is a presidential candidate by law, no matter what the status of his declaration is.

On Thursday, former Texas Governor Rick Perry also announced his run for the US presidency via his official campaign website.

Among other Republican contenders Bush will face once he enters the presidential race are Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul as well as former Hewlett-Packard (HP) CEO Carly Fiorina.
