Death Toll From Mexico Tornado Reaches 13 - Official

The death toll from the tornado that hit the Mexican city of Ciudad Acuna, situated on the border with the United States, has reached 13, Coahuila State Government Secretary Victor Zamora Rodriguez said Monday.

MEXICO CITY (Sputnik) — Local authorities previously put the death toll at 10. Among the victims are 10 adults and three children. One child is still unaccounted for.

Zamora said that 88 people sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals. Several temporary camps have been set up in the city to receive those who lost their homes.

The tornado, which lasted for only six seconds, caused serious damage to the city.

About 750 buildings in the city are damaged, 80 of them are totally destroyed, as well as 50 cars.
