Software Problem Likely Reason Behind A400M Crash in Spain

On May 9, an A400M crashed during a test flight shortly after takeoff near Spain's Seville. Four of the six people on board were killed, while two sustained serious injuries.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A software problem in the engines’ control unit is likely to have caused the recent crash of a brand new Airbus A400M military cargo plane in Spain, Spiegel Online reported Tuesday.

Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft’s three engines received contradictory orders from the computers and shut off, according to the news outlet.

This reportedly made it impossible for the pilots to safely land the vehicle.
