The rating of the Greek parliament TV channel rised fourfold due to a live broadcast of Moscow's Victory Day Parade on May 9, one of the channel's journalists said Sunday.

ATHENS (Sputnik) — The channel's rating climbed up to 8 percent against usual 1.5 percent, he added.

"For the first time Greek television showed a live broadcast of the Red Square parade. Although there were no announcements, no trailers about the upcoming event, viewers called each other and informed about the broadcast," the journalist told RIA Novosti.

Victory Day Parade in Moscow
On Saturday, Moscow held the largest parade Russia have ever seen. About 16,500 troops and almost 200 units of military hardware passed through the Red Square to mark the 70th anniversary of victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

The decision to show a live broadcast had been made several hours before the parade kicked off in the Russian capital. Two other local channels switched to the parliament channel broadcasting shortly after the show had begun.
