McCarthy was among three protesters arrested Monday for being inside a tent during the Occupy Democracy rally in London calling for democracy free from corporate control.
McCarthy added that "when you have extreme-right paper domination in the media, it leads to press becoming anti-immigrants, anti-women, anti-poor people, anti-welfare and that is what the Occupy Democracy talks about."
Rupert Murdoch owns News Corporation of British Sky Broadcasting (BSkyB) and nearly 120 newspapers in at least five countries including The Sun, The Times, and Sunday Times in the United Kingdom.
Richard Desmond is the owner of British publishing and television groups that issue Daily Express, Sunday Express, Daily Star and Daily Star Sunday newspapers, and the magazines OK!, New!, Star, as well as own TV channels.
The Barclay brothers are the owners of the The Daily Telegraph, Sunday Telegraph and The Spectator.
"I think what the world needs is a compilation websites that combine all the independent media outlets with the independent search," McCarthy concluded.
The Occupy Democracy campaign in London and other UK cities was launched on May 1 and is set to continue until May 10.
