Polish President Bronislaw Komorowski said on Sunday that the upcoming Victory Day parade in Moscow on May 9 is a "demonstration of force" and an example of an "unstable world." According to him, the Red Square once again will become a "tank square."
"The manner of statements made by various [Polish] officials from the presidential office toward Russia is fueling mutual dislike."
"Do we have to jump to the forefront and rattle a sabre at a nuclear power? But how? We bought helicopters without a system of self-defense. Any soldier can they bring them down. We bought Patriot missiles, but we will get only two squadrons soon, the rest will be transferred to us only in 2022-2025," she said.
The first round of the upcoming presidential election in Poland will be held on May 10. Eleven candidates are participating in the presidential race. Political analysts predict that the incumbent head of state Bronislaw Komorowski has the biggest chance of winning the elections.
Magdalena Ogorek, 35, is a public figure, historian and Doctor of Philosophy. Ogorek also starred in several Polish TV series. Ogorek first appeared on the political scene in 2011, running, unsuccessfully, for a seat in the country's parliament. But the once powerful SLD has decided to take the risk with Ogorek, with party leader Leszek Miller calling the campaign "a symbol of change" and "the opening up of Polish politics to a young European generation."
Earlier, the Polish president and prime minister refused to attend the Victory Day celebrations in Moscow on May 9, explaining this decision by the situation in eastern Ukraine.
