Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake has lifted the curfew that she announced last Monday when violence broke out after what had been a peaceful demonstration.

The Baltimore curfew was put into effect last Tuesday and prohibited civilians from being outside within the city between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Many dozens have been arrested for violating the curfew including as many as 50 just yesterday.

Journalists were also caught up in some of the arrests as were lawyers and medics who were there to provide assistance to the protesters.

The curfew was intended to decrease the number of people on the streets who used the protests as a reason to destroy cars and burn down businesses.
