WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Monday, mass protests against police brutality turned into riots in Baltimore, following the funeral of Freddie Gray, a 25-year-old African American who died of spinal injuries while in police custody.
The "riots" in Baltimore are not a "civil disturbance" they are a primal scream to fix a systemically racist world. #BaltimoreUprising— Occupy Wall Street (@OccupyWallStNYC) April 28, 2015
Occupy Wall Street said that the unrest in Baltimore is merely an act of defense of African American lives.
“Funny how the system calls for non-violence once those who experience violence daily start fighting back,” Occupy Wall Street concluded.
Occupy Wall Street is a people-powered movement, whose goal is to fight back against the corrosive power of major banks and multinational corporations over the democratic process, according to the movement’s website.
