The quake caused an avalanche on Mount Everest, which reportedly killed at least 65 people. The majority of the casualties are foreign nationals. Some 1,000 climbers are currently awaiting evacuation. The rescue operation is complicated by adverse weather conditions.
Several areas of India, Tibet and Bangladesh have also been damaged by the tremors.
