VIENNA (Sputnik) – The work process of the final agreement on Iran’s nuclear program is continuing but slow, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told RIA Novosti on Friday.
"We are moving forward. Slowly — because we are now in a new stage of working on a final document, but we are doing well."
A meeting between senior diplomats from Iran and international mediators – the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, China, France and Germany – will get underway at around 7:30 GMT. It was preceded by two days of talks between the countries' nuclear experts.
The parties are to continue discussing technical details of the agreement, as well as the lifting of sanctions that were imposed on Iran over the years to pressure it into dismantling its ambitious nuclear program.
The deadline to reach a final agreement that would guarantee the peaceful nature of the Iran's nuclear activities is set for July 2015, after being repeatedly postponed. A framework agreement on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program was reached in early April.
Iran has long been accused of trying to develop nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear program, claims it has repeatedly rejected.
