WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – During the docking, the spacecraft was grappled by the Canadarm2 Remote Manipulator System, operated by Italian astronaut Samantha Cristoforetti. She is assisted by US astronaut Terry Virts.

The Dragon carries two tons of cargo, including materials for the many research projects conducted on board the ISS.

According to NASA, human health studies will play a more prominent role beginning with this SpaceX mission. A joint US-Russian one-year mission to the ISS, twice as long as regular missions, kicked off in late March.
This is the sixth operational cargo delivery mission to the ISS for the private SpaceX company under a Commercial Resupply Services contract with NASA.
