Talks Between Russian, Thai Prime Ministers Begin in Bangkok
BANGKOK (Sputnik) — The Russian Railway company signed a memo of understanding on Wednesday to build railway infrastructure and a marine coal terminal for Thailand's Banpu Public Company Limited on the island of Borneo, during Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev's visit to the country.

Russian energy systems machine-building company Power Machines and Inter RAO Engineering company also signed an agreement on mutual understanding with Turbo Machinery Thailand for undisclosed industrial infrastructure.

Today is the first day of Medvedev’s two-day visit to Thailand. The Russian Prime Minister arrived in Bangkok from Vietnam, where he had held meetings with his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Tan Dung and President Truong Tan Sang.

In November 2014, Russian Economic Development Minister Alexei Ulyukaev discussed a number of projects on coal transport infrastructure for the island of Borneo with Indonesian Minister of Trade Rahmat Gobel.

Construction is intended to begin in 2016.
