Germany to Investigate Cockpit Door Mechanisms After Airbus A320 Crash

Subscribe
German government will launch a task force to look into cockpit door mechanisms after last week's Germanwings flight crash, Minister of Transport Alexander Dobrindt said at a press conference Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The group will also review procedures to ascertain pilot health, in particular psychological makeup, according to Dobrindt.

The A320 Airbus, en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf, was downed in a remote mountain area in southern France on March 24, killing all 150 people on board. The plane's co-pilot Andreas Lubitz is believed to have locked the pilot out of the cockpit to intentionally crash the plane.

The tragedy has led to global changes in plane security. Airlines in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Arab Emirates and France announced new rules stipulating two crew members to be at the plane cabin at all times of the flight.
