EU ‘Brainwashes’ Teenagers via Coloring Books - UKIP

UKIP's economics spokesman stated that the European Union was "brainwashing the children" by pouring money into the British educational system.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Teenagers under 18 should not be allowed to vote in a referendum on the UK's membership of the European Union, as they have been "brainwashed" by pro-EU coloring books, Eurosceptic UK Independence Party (UKIP) said Wednesday.

The party's economics spokesman, Patrick O'Flynn, stated that the European Union was "brainwashing the children" by pouring money into the British educational system.

“There have been lots of stories about the extent of EU funding of publicity that has gone into schools," O'Flynn said as quoted by The Telegraph.

According to Suzanne Evans, the party's deputy chairman, the pro-EU propaganda is everywhere "from colouring in books on the Common Agricultural Policy for primary school children right up to research projects at university level."

"The amount of money that the EU is putting into this propaganda and throughout the entire education system is enormous," Evans added.

In January 2013, British Prime Minister David Cameron promised to hold a referendum on Britain's membership of the European Union in 2017, if the ruling Conservative Party wins an outright majority at the next general election scheduled for May 2015.

Monday marked the start of the election season in Britain, with parties formally launching their campaigns.
