Dozens of activists gathered near the government building in Kiev demanding the resignation of the State Aviation Administration head and an open contest for the position.

On Wednesday, dozens of ‘Automaidan’ members protested against corruption in government and the State Aviation Administration in particular.

They also staged a symbolic burial of the country’s low cost airline, Wizz Air, after the Ukrainian branch announced its shutdown due to the Donbass conflict, hryvnia depreciation and new unclear regulations.

The demonstrators carried placards reading “No to Corruption,” “For Eurointegration,” as well as a casket and a wreath with a “Low cost [airlines]” inscription.

The activists said their dreams to fly at prices of $30-50, like in Europe, have now departed. They complained that a flight from Kiev to Odessa (approximately 475 km) costs more than 4000 hryvnias (over $170), whereas in other countries a ticket for a similar flight costs between $20 and $30.
