Caught on camera, the firefighter, a Captain and a 25-year veteran, according to the Fire Chief, was walking on the roof of the garage and ventilating it when it suddenly collapsed and swallowed him.
Within three minutes, several firefighters and bystanders quickly ripped off the home’s garage door and pulled the firefighter from the blaze.
He suffers second- and third-degree burns on 65% to 75% of his body, according to Department spokesman Pete Martinez.
