Amanda Knox Murder Conviction Overturned
22:03 GMT 27.03.2015 (Updated: 10:08 GMT 06.08.2022) Italy’s highest court has decided to acquit American Amanda Knox, as well as Italian Raffaele Sollecito, of the murder of Meredith Kercher.
Through a legal back-and-forth which lasted over seven years, Knox was convicted for the murder of her roommate, a UK citizen, in the Italian town of Perugia, in 2009.
Knox currently resides in the United States after a 2011 acquittal, and it remained unclear if she would be extradited had the Italian court upheld the guilty verdict.
