The Bundestag, Germany's Parliament, has ratified the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement signed by the Kiev regime in Brussels on June 27, 2014. The deal has been in effect since November 1, 2014, with the exception of its free trade zone establishment provisions, which will take effect on January 1, 2016.

Germany's Bundestag has ratified the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement on March 26, 2015, with Ukraine's Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Groysman having attended the parliamentary session.

"Today Germany's Bundestag ratified the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement. Ukraine is on its way to the European family. Ukraine is Europe," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko tweeted.

Volodymyr Groysman underscored that he considered the ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement an important historical event.

In his turn, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier emphasized that the Ukraine-EU association deal received much more attention than any other agreement concluded by the European Union in recent years.

The agreement is aimed at further economic integration between the European Union and Ukraine, establishment of a free trade zone as well as political association, industrial cooperation, social development and protection.

The document will enter into force after the EU member-states ratify the agreement in their national parliaments. According to some estimates, the process of ratification could take up to three years.
