The remains of a reality TV star and her husband are believed to have been found in a wood stove. The owner of the stove was the key suspect in her murder.

Cristie Schoen Codd, a former Food Network contestant, was expecting her first child with her husband when they both disappeared. Their remains are now believed to be found in a wood burning stove.

Police arrested Robert Jason Owens in their murder Monday after he was witnessed suspiciously dumping large trash bags the night before. He was charged with the couple's murder as well as the murder of their unborn child.

Police say that they found their remains after Owens’ wife told detectives that he had run over Cristie Codd’s husband with his own pickup truck. They also items belonging to the Codds on Owens’ property.

According to police, Owens admitted to going into the Codd's home and stealing the belongings. The theft was reported missing by family and authorities suspect the couple was killed sometime around Thursday of last week.

"He did admit to taking the bodies, storing them on his property and destroying them," Buncombe Sheriff Van Duncan said of the 36-year-old suspect at a press conference Friday.

The remains have not been positively identified as the couple but Duncan said Owens admitted to storing the bodies and then trying to destroy them in the stove.

Owens lived near the Codd's home. Police say his construction company had done work on Codds’ house which is how he likely came to know them.
