Germany has accused five men of alleged links to the Somali-based Islamic extremist group al-Shabab.

Six German nationals have been charged with developing ties with the Somali-based Islamic extremist group al-Shabab, sources said.

Five of them were accused of undergoing weapons training at an al-Shabab camp in 2012.

The sixth is facing charges for trying to enter the group, which has carried out a spate of deadly attacks in Somalia and in neighboring countries in the past.
