A group of anarchists set cars and dumpsters ablaze in Athens following a march of solidarity with inmates, who have gone on a hunger strike in protest against harsh treatment of prisoners in Greek maximum-security jails.

Following the rally, protesters clashed with riot police deployed to the area, according to the footage posted online.

The march took place in the Athens' district of Exarcheia, some say on Twitter.

Earlier this month, approximately 50 anarchists stormed into the headquarters of Syriza, the ruling party in Greece, demanding that the government shut down maximum-security prisons in the country and release imprisoned bomb maker Savvas Xiros.
