AirAsia Investigation Reveals Pilot Left His Seat Before Crash
BALI (Sputnik) — Indonesian rescuers retrieved three more bodies over the weekend from last year's AirAsia plane crash in the Java Sea, a rescue agency official said Monday.

AirAsia's Flight QZ8501, flying from Surabaya, Indonesia, to Singapore, lost contact with air traffic control and crashed into the Java Sea December 28, 2014.

The bodies were found about 40 meters from where the main fragment of the aircraft's fuselage was retrieved, operational chief of search and rescue Marshal Supriyadi said as cited by local news website Detik.com. There are still many smaller sections of the aircraft in the area and the bodies were found among them, he added.

The Indonesian rescue agency earlier reported that it had recovered 103 bodies. 162 people were on board the crashed Airbus A320-200.

The rescue operation, ongoing for over two months, resumed March 9 after a week-long break to finalize the search for bodies.
