All Five Suspects in Murder of Politician Nemtsov Arrested in Moscow
Russian police have done a good job of catching people suspected of being involved in the murder of Boris Nemtsov and investigation is going on the right track, Alexander Mercouris, an international affairs analyst and legal expert based in London, told Radio Sputnik in an exclusive interview.

Mercouris said he expected Russian police to resolve the Nemtsov case since there were so many clues left at the crime scene, although the legal expert did not think it would be this quick.

“The Russian police are very efficient… I think that we can be fairly confident that this investigation is going on the right lines, that probably the right sorts of people are caught, and that in fact it is consistent with what we know of the fact of the murder itself.” – Mercouris said.

He also added that the murder itself was not very well planned and looked like it was carried out by amateurs.

Russia's Most Notorious Hitman Claims Nemtsov's Killers Were Amateurs
“If you actually look at the murder, it does not look to me that it was a particularly sophisticated killing, such as you would expect a professional hitman to have carried out the murder,” Mercouris told Sputnik.

Five men from Russia’s North Caucasus region were detained on Saturday suspected of carrying out the assassination of Nemtsov. One of the suspects, Zaur Dadayev, pleaded guilty for taking part in the killing. The judge Natalia Mushnikova said that Dadayev confessed to investigators on Sunday that he was indeed involved in the crime.

Four other suspects, identified as Ramzan Bakhayev, Tamerlan Eskerkhanov, Anzor Gubashev and Shagit Gubashev, entered a not guilty plea, claiming to have alibi.

Mercouris speculated that there may be a much bigger group involved in the murder of Nemtsov.
