MOSCOW, March 5 (Sputnik) - The LaGuardia Airport in New York has been temporarily closed after a plane skidded off from the runway during landing, the US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) said Thursday.

"Due to AIRCRAFT INCIDENT, the La Guardia Airport (LGA) was closed as of Mar 05 at 11:09 AM EST. The date/time when the airport is expected to reopen is Mar 05 at 06:59 PM EST," the FAA said on its website.

The incident occurred when Delta’s flight 1086 from Atlanta to New York exited the snowy runway during landing.

Passengers exited the plane on aircraft slides and were bused to the terminal, according to the airline. No serious injuries have been reported.
