Jihadi John, 2 Members of Al-Qaeda Affiliate Groups Attended Same UK School

Jihadi John, identified last week as UK citizen Mohammed Emwazi, attended the Quintin Kynaston academy with two Islamists who reportedly died while fighting for Al Shabaab and the Nusra Front militant groups respectively.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The recently-identified Islamic State terrorist known as "Jihadi John" attended the same school in London as two members of al-Qaeda affiliate groups, The Telegraph reported Sunday.

Jihadi John, identified last week as British citizen Mohammed Emwazi and known for executing several Western hostages, attended the Quintin Kynaston academy with Mohammed Sakr and Choukri Ellekhlifi, who reportedly died while fighting for Al Shabaab and the Nusra Front militant groups respectively.

"Students that may have attended nine years ago are not a reflection of the students we are proud of having at QK [Quintin Kynaston], and we will continue to put in place support mechanisms to make sure all our students feel safe and that they can raise any concerns," the school's headteacher Alex Atherton told The Telegraph, as the government announced a review into the matter Saturday evening.

Both Sakr and Ellekhlifi were close friends with Emwazi, The Telegraph reported.

According to UK media reports, Emwazi was born to Iraqi parents in Kuwait, who later moved to Britain. He grew up in West London and traveled to Syria in 2012. The 26-year-old appeared in several Islamic State videos, personally beheading a number of international journalists and aid workers.
